On 02/24/2007, the Baltimore Touchdown Club met and selected their 2007 Super 22 Football Team. The players will be honored at the BTC 10th Annual Super 22 Banquet.
The team will feature the best High School junior football players in Maryland. These current juniors, soon to be Top Performer Seniors in the fall will be showcased on Thursday Night April 26th at Michael's 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie Maryland-6:30 PM.
This banquet will be attended by well over 30 College Football programs looking to get a jump on the 2007 Senior recruiting class. Top Colleges such as University of Maryland, University of Virginia, U.S. Naval Academy, John Hopkins University, Boston College, McDaniel College and many more will be in attendance.
The banquet draws well over 500 parents and fans of the Maryland football community. This year's Personality of the Year Award Winner and Keynote speaker will be the Baltimore Raven's own Coach Rick Neuheisel- Offensive Coordinator.
During the month of February, over 250 players were nominated by their Head Coaches for their outstanding junior year Stats, grades, community service and leadership skills.
Players were nominated by 65 schools which make up the Baltimore Touchdown Club membership. The Baltimore Touchdown Club membership consists of schools in the MIAA-Private Schools, Baltimore City, Anne Arundel County, Howard County and the MVAL league which represents Carroll County, Frederick County and Washington County.
In 1997, the Super 22 was founded and presented by the Baltimore Touchdown Club with the intention of selecting 22 of the best players for the Baltimore area on Offense and Defense. In 2007, we will be honoring 61 players, 27 on Offense, 28 on Defense and 6 Special Teams players.
This banquet will honor great high school football players as well as inducting 15 Adults into the Baltimore Touchdown Club Hall of Fame.
Pervious keynote speakers have included Ravens Head Coach Brian Billick, Maryland's Head Coach Ralph Friedgen, and Navy's Head Coach Paul Johnson.
Top players such as Notre Dame's Victor Abiamiri and Ambrose Wooden, Ohio State's Stan White Jr., Virginia Tech's Jason Murphy, West Virginia's Chris Bassler, and Boston College's Brady Smith have been honored at this banquet. This banquet has become one of the premier High School Football events in Maryland.
